PC gaming is becoming more and more portable. Mini PCs like Corsair’s new One i300 are streaming PC games on mobile devices or TVs with all the rage. Valve’s SteamDack is poised to become a new portable PC gaming experience, and it’s competing.
AyaNeo is a company that looks to have a more premium look at portable gaming PCs. Its device line looks a lot like a steam deck, which looks like a Nintendo Switch. In the middle is a large screen with controllers with analog sticks, D-pad, and face buttons on both sides, but there is also a big difference between the two in terms of construction and price. The AyaNeo 2021 Pro, for example, packs the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U CPU with 1TB SSD and costs $ 1,315 USD. SteamDax, for comparison, is set to release in February at a maximum memory capacity of 512 GB for 649 USD.
Ionio’s new high-end portable PC gaming, Ionio Next Advance, which will be released in February. That’s a real step, the Zen3 Ryzen hosts 5800U and 2TB of storage, and is only slightly more expensive at $ 1,345 USD than the 2021 Pro. On top of that there is a custom Joyce Stick with 16 GB RAM, 7 inch high brightness screen, magnetic hall sensors which AyaNeo claims will eliminate the added problems, fingerprint wakeup and much more. This Wi-Fi 6E is also compatible if you have a router like this that can support it. It also runs its own software, AyaSpace, although it still looks like a SteamDack that can be plugged in and used just like a normal Windows PC via a USB C port. Also, this is a really nice piece of premium kit.
The Zen 3 chip should make AyaNeo Next Advance very robust on the CPU aspect of things, and this extra SSD space is invaluable with today’s big AAA games. It remains to be seen whether this will make it $ 700 more than a regular Steam deck.
On the product page, AyaNeo lists some of the specs that Next Advance has tested to run on various games in the company’s laboratories. Most of them seem to be talking about power consumption from a 4100 mAh battery that can play games for between 2 and 6 hours. Although the data is very vague without much information, it shows that Cyberpunk 2077 was running at 30FPS, although we would like to see it in practice.
AyaNeo Next Advance is currently available for pre-order on the AyaNeo website, expected to be released in late February with a limited number of signature editions that come with a special nameplate engraving.
