Concrete Genie developer PixelOpus is currently hiring staff to work on a PlayStation 5 game powered by Unreal Engine 5, and is working with the studio behind Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.

As reported by VGC, the PixelOpus Twitter account tweeted that it was hiring for “an exciting new PlayStation 5 title” that the studio is currently hard at work on. The new job listings specifically mention that the studio will be working with the Unreal Engine 5 engine, which has recently seen some impressive tech demos, and gone into early access.

The listing for a Senior Engine Programmer also mentions that the applicant will help PixelOpus “tackle exciting innovation and creative opportunities through a collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation”. Sony Pictures Animation is the crew responsible for movies like Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse and most recently, The Mitchells vs. the Machines.

The Principal Graphics Programmer’s responsibilities include “Complex shader coding, Lighting Models, Special effects (bloom, fog etc.), Occlusion schemes utilizing the rendering architecture, Particle systems, Shadowing Solutions etc”.

PixelOpus has been hiring for a PS5 game since October 2020, and it seems production continues to ramp up. In our review of Concrete Genie, we scored it an 8, calling it a “spellbinding experiment in player creativity”.
