Fortnight 19.01 The January 11 patch will finally bring a stormy season to War Royale, a month after it was first teased in a Chapter 3 trailer.
Hurricanes and lightning storms will begin to spread over the island with this week’s update, each season having its own benefits. For example, being struck by a lightning bolt from a deep cloud not only handles light damage (and sets the surrounding area on fire), but also provides speed to the player.
The official blog post of Epic Games for the update also states that players can increase the chances of lightning by jumping into the water or climbing to the highest point under thunder.
The storm, meanwhile, will lift the players and take them to the sky, allowing them to move safely to safety. APEC has also announced Tornado Week, which will run from now until January 17 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET, where storms will spread more frequently than usual.
Finally, the 19.01 January 11 hotfix will also open the Flare Gun, giving players another firefighting option outside the Firefly Jar. A flare gun can set fire to an area when it is fired directly, or when fired into the air, can ping enemies briefly in that area, giving it a multifaceted advantage. Flare guns will appear as floor loot, in chests, and in supply drops.
We anticipate major changes to Fortnite before the end of the season, including the return of the Tailed Towers near the center of the map. If you’re still working on last week’s Weekly Challenges, take a look at where to find timber pines and get them done before the storm hits and drop them all for you.
